Faith in God and the Sabbath, the Commandment of Love

December 23, 2016

Do you believe in God? And do you love him? As for those who believe in God and have hope for the kingdom of heaven, it is their duty to keep the commandments of God. Numerous Christians claim that they believe in God and they love God. However, only a handful of people truly believe in God and love Him. It is because most christian people do not keep the Sabbath day which is the command of God, but keep the Sunday worship which is the rule of men. But the Bible says that those who believe and love God will keep His commands. (Jn 14:15)

The Creation of the World and the Sabbath

God created the heaven and the earth and everything in it for 6 days and rested on the 7th day. He also blessed that day and made it holy. (Ge 2:1~2) For whom do you think God blessed the 7th day and made it holy? The ones who need to be blessed and be made holy are us, the sinners who live on the earth, not God. The 7th day contains the love of God who wants to bless and make holy the sinners who are under the slavery of sin and death and lead them into the eternal rest. Thus, God asked us to remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy and put it as the fourth commandment among the Ten Commandments which all Christians must observe.

Sabbath-the Seventh day

In order to keep the Sabbath day which is clearly stated in the Bible and the Ten Commandments, we must find out what day out of the week the seventh day is.

  1. Calendar – the first day: Sunday / the seventh day: Saturday
  2. Dictionary – (Merriam Webster’s) Sunday: the first day of the week, Saturday: the seventh day of the week
  3. Bible – Mk 16:9

Some may say, “I believe neither calendar nor dictionary. I only believe what the Bible says.” All Christians know that Jesus resurrected on Sunday. In the book of Mark, it is written that Jesus resurrected on the first day after the Sabbath. The Bible clearly states that the first day of the week is Sunday. No one can deny the fact that the Sabbath day, the seventh day of the week, is Saturday. Although they claim to believe in God and love him with all their heart, denying this fact is the same as denying the Bible, that is, denying God who is the Word.

Sabbath and the blessing from God

Let me ask you a question. Do you know Queen Elizabeth ll of England on a personal level? For those of you who said, “Yes” you must be able to produce evidence of this fact. Even if you have a picture taken with Queen Elizabeth ll, it would be a great honor. Then, do you know God on a personal level? All Christians in the world will surely say “Yes”. However, strangely enough, even though these people say that they are very close to God, God says, “No, we’re not” to those who keep Sunday Worship. The reason is that God gave the Sabbath day to His people as a sign between Him and His people and commanded us to keep it in order to know God who makes us holy. If you love and trust God then you must keep the Sabbath day. The Sabbath day is a sign between God and His people and a blessed day (Ex 31:13).

Sunday Worship that is a regulation of man

Sunday Worship had slowly begun to be kept from AD 100 by those who were influenced by Mithra-ism in Rome. Ultimately in AD 321 Roman Emperor Constantine completely abolished the Sabbath day, God’s commandment and established Sunday as the official day of worship. As we can confirm through history, that Sunday Worship is not God’s commandment, but a regulation of man. No matter how diligently a person attends church, if they keep Sunday worship, Jesus said, it is to worship God in vain (Mt 15:7). If someone worships God, there’s probably no one who wants to worship God in vain. Although a person is confident that their worship is not in vain, if Jesus Christ who is the judge of the universe says Sunday worship, a rule of man is a worship in vain, then their worship is in vain. We should not try to put ourselves in a higher position than God but rather with a mind of obedience, we must keep the Sabbath day, the commandment of God.

The will of God, the Sabbath

The Bible says that those who do not do the will of God can never enter the kingdom of heaven and only those who do the will of God can enter. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus Himself prophesies about the Day of Judgment. On that day, many people will say to Jesus, “Lord, Lord” boasting about all the great works they did in the name of Jesus. It means all these people are Christians. If they did many works in Jesus’ name, they should go to the kingdom of heaven. However, Jesus said “I never knew you. Away from me,” and casts them out of heaven. The reason is that they are evildoers. In the NLT Bible, it clearly says “you who break God’s laws.” Those who do not do the will of God are those who do not keep God’s commandments, that is, God’s law.

The World Mission Society Church of God that keeps the Sabbath

The World Mission Society Church of God is the only church that keeps the seventh day Sabbath day, the will of God and His commandment, correctly according to the words of God in the Bible. Come to the Church of God and receive the blessings together with the whole family by worshiping the true God on the joyful Sabbath day on which God promised to give blessings and be the children of God who hope for the kingdom of Heaven.
