Heavenly Family and Earthly Family

The Earthly Family is a Copy of the Heavenly One

Today many Christians believe that there is only God the Father in the Kingdom of Heaven. However, through God’s creation, the Bible enlightens us about the fact that there exists a Mother in Heaven as well. The earthly systems are a copy and shadow of the Heavenly systems, this includes the family systems. Today let us study more about the heavenly family and the earthly family.

Hebrews 8:5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

When Moses was commanded by God to build the earthly tabernacle, the Heavenly one was shown to him. This shows that for us to understand about the Heavenly things, God shows us the earthly things which serve as a copy and shadow of the Heavenly ones.

Romans 1: 19-20 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

The Bible explains that God’s divine nature can be understood through what has been made and in the book of Ephesians 3:15, the Bible talks about two types of families. Among the many mysteries hidden in the Bible, let us examine the teachings of God concerning the heavenly family and the earthly family.

In the earthly family, there are a father, a mother, and children. How about the Heavenly family system then? Since it serves as the reality of the earthly family, then it means that there should be a Heavenly Father, Heavenly Mother, and Heavenly children.

Heavenly Family Members

First, let us start with the father who is the representative of the family.

Hebrews 12:9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!

Just as we respect our human fathers, the Bible explains that we should respect and submit to the Father of our spirits. This verse clearly shows that there exists the Father of our spirits. Through this, one can understand that just as there is an earthly father, there exists a Heavenly Father in the kingdom of Heaven. For this reason, Jesus taught us about our spiritual Father like this:

Matthew 6: 9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…”

According to Jesus’ teaching, God who is in Heaven is our Father. So far, we have understood that there exists a Father in Heaven. Let us take some time to understand what the term Father means. No man in this world can be called a ‘father’ if he does not have children. That is why on earth, people refer to a man with a child as ‘father’. Then are there spiritual children in the Heavenly family system as well?

1 Corinthians 6: 17-18 Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters says the Lord Almighty.”

God said, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters”, this implies that there exist Heavenly children who call God their Father. Just as there are children in the earthly family, it is the same in the Heavenly family as well.

Since the Bible teaches us about Heavenly children, then it should also teach about their Heavenly Mother because children cannot be born if there isn’t a mother. Does the Bible testify about the Mother of our spirits?

Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

The Bible explains that in Heaven there lives a free woman (Galatians 4:31) and this woman is our Mother. Our here refers to God’s children who will be saved. The children who believe in Mother will receive God’s blessing of eternal life. Children on Earth have their mothers, it is the same in Heaven. Through this, we can understand that, if a person rejects God the Mother, they cannot be the children of promise whom God will save. That is why we must become the children of both God the Father and God the Mother.

The Blood of the Passover allows us to become God’s children.

In the earthly family, when children are born, they inherit blood from their parents. No one can fully belong to a specific family if they do not share the same flesh  and blood as their parents. In the same way, we can become God’s children when we inherit Their flesh and blood. Jesus taught:

Luke 22:20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

Jesus said that the wine of the Passover is His blood, therefore the way God created for His children to attain his blood is the Passover of the New Covenant. If one does not keep the Passover, they can never become God’s children, that is why Jesus continuously emphasized the Passover to his disciples. When we become God’s children through the Passover the Kingdom of Heaven is guaranteed to us. What should those who will inherit God’s kingdom do?

Romans 8:16-18 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

The Spirit, our Father testifies that we are God’s children, since we are God the Father and God the Mother’s children, we should participate in their suffering so that we may share in Their glory as well. Even though hardship and persecution may come our way whilst following God, they should not weigh us down because the Kingdom of Heaven is guaranteed to God’s children. Let us receive our Heavenly Father and Mother who sacrificed themselves only to save us.
